The Importance of Good Ventilation

We often overlook the importance of good ventilation when renovating an existing property. When we reduce drafts and install modern air-tight windows, we greatly reduce the air infiltration rate. Air filtration is more important in older properties than new builds, as inevitably there will be parts of the external building which could not be insulated as well as other areas. These areas can attract condensation, which over time leads to mould growth. Therefore it is important to implement a suitable ventilation system when older properties are upgraded.

There are a good number of benefits to installing an MVHR system to an existing home, including:

  • A controlled ventilation system
  • Better air quality
  • Lower humidity and no condensation
  • Can be used to deliver heat throughout the house
  • Helps maintain a steady temperature throughout the house

We look at each property individually and provide a solution that will help remove excess moisture and air pollution while providing enough fresh air for comfortable living, with the additional benefit that MVHR systems actively de-humidify your property, in the colder months.

What is MVHR?
What is MVHR?
Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) is a continuous source of ventilation that extracts stale, moisture-laden air from a building and resupplies fresh, filtered air back in, resulting in a comfortable and condensation-free environment all year round.

This allows for ample ventilation throughout the house while minimising the loss of indoor heat.
