What is MVHR

A Continuous Source of Ventilation

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) is a continuous source of ventilation that extracts stale, moisture-laden air from a building and resupplies fresh, filtered air back in, resulting in a comfortable and condensation free environment all year round.

This allows for ample ventilation throughout the house while minimising the loss of indoor heat.

This is done by extracting air from humid and damp rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms, toilets and utility rooms and supplying fresh air to the living areas of your home such as bedrooms, lounges and home offices.

Heat is recovered from the extracted air passed through the heat exchanger within the MVHR unit and passed into the building via the fresh air supply helping to heat your home.

The benefits of MVHR include:

  • Continuous supply of fresh air to provide good indoor air quality
  • Filtered fresh air eliminates pollen and dust particles which alleviates allergies
  • Reduces condensation and potential mould build-up
  • Odours occurring from pets and cooking are drastically reduced
  • Recovers and recirculates heat from your house reducing the heating demand from your property
  • In air-tight homes, up to 30% can be saved from your heating bill
  • Cooler on hot and humid days due to the constant supply of filtered fresh air
